Position: Education Intern
The Long Island Philharmonic seeks an intern (college or recent graduate) to assist the Arts-In-Education Department of the Long Island Philharmonic, recognized as one of the Island’s leading orchestral education programs. This internship is available year-round. Depending on the semester, the Education Intern's projects will include: researching youth programming and study materials; management of school and press contact databases; assistance in the management of marketing materials to promote Music LIvz - the Arts-In-Education Program - to local schools, universities and community groups; attendance at in-school programs and Long Island Philharmonic concerts with the Education Coordinator to assist with education activities. Assist with administrative office duties such as mailing, filing, faxing, etc.
Qualifications: Completion of at least sophomore year of college. Applicants must have computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher, knowledge of the Internet, strong writing skills, and excellent communication and organization skills, some graphic design experience helpful. Candidates must have an interest in the performing arts and music education. Must have a car to travel to in-school programs. Although all applicants will be considered if they meet the above requirements, those who are pursuing a degree or considering a career in music/performing arts, music education, arts management, public relations, or education are preferred. Long Island Philharmonic will work with candidate to receive school credit if applicable.
